We recently had two incidents of graffiti/ tagging here in Cody Park. Several signs were painted over and/or defaced with foul language directed at Cody Park. Also, the cement retaining that is above the "Woods" property facing Lookout Mountain Rd., but within Cody Park, was also tagged. Local neighbors have kindly painted over most of the damage. The attached picture shows the nature of the tagging on the back of one the local signs not yet repaired.

Along with concern about the graffiti there have been many questions regarding its nature. There has been concern if it had gang association, what was the meaning of the tags, did it portend further criminal activity. Answers as follows:
• according to JEFCO SD Gang Unit, these tags show no relation to or origin in known gang activity;
• there is no knowledge of the word’s meaning though the symbology has the same meaning as the “bird”; and,
• this seems to be a localized incident that only occurred in Cody Park.
None of the surrounding communities were tagged so it was most likely disgruntled neighborhood kids NOT a criminal element coming in.

That said, destruction of property is a crime! Parents are responsible for their children and should carefully consider if their kids are unhappy to be here in Cody Park. (Did they recently find themselves here away from old friends, feeling isolated or in some similar situation that could cause resentment about where they are.) If so please talk with them and help out. Make sure this doesn’t reoccur, protect yourselves from the hassle of an irate neighborhood.

KEEP YOUR EYE (NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH) OUT ! ! !
